Here's a game for you. So how're the puzzles? There are some reoccuring pattern matching-type ones in various forms, with the main puzzles having quite a degree of variety to them, and there are plenty of them. This isn't "The Witness" though, the puzzles have meaning in the environment and story, it's not just a fun house of meaningless puzzles to solve. There was only one puzzle that I got super-stuck with, but there is an on-demand hint system to help you out.How's the story? It certainly kept me interested enough, and I won't mention specifics as to not spoil it, but the game is certainly driven very much by the story.Exploration? The graphics/style are very nice to look at, though not gob-smackingly jaw-dropping like "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter". You can poke around in various rooms and environments to find more stuff to read and look at, as well as turn on every candle and light you can see, prettying up the environment even more. The weather and time-of-day changes throughout as well.My only major gripe is the lack of FOV control, though the default is just-about acceptable. Bit irritating though, as I did ask about it when they demoed it at EGX, and they said it would be added!Overall, recommended for people who like these kinds of games.. Lake Ridden is a beautiful game with a great atmosphere!I enjoyed playing it a lot...Totally recommended one!. Such a beautiful and serene game! Can really recommend this if you like to go around and carefully take in your surroundings while solving hard, but not too hard, puzzles. All while unraveling a mysterious story.VR support when devs?! ;). This game has enchantment and intrigue which permeate throughout. The inclusion of puzzles take me back to the adventure game era and give that feeling of wonder from back then. During the downtime between puzzles the soliloquies help you to continue pondering on the current narrative and of what's to comeI'll return with final thoughts after game completion, but I'm very content with what I have experienced so far. Lake Ridden has an identity crisis.It tries to be a puzzle game, a walking simulator and have some kind of mystery narration. Some good, but the bad ones are repeated. As a walking simulator, you can open cupboards and pick up items, but apart from the forest, there's nothing to look at. The story is told with letters and quite bad voice acting, and in the ending, I'm not even sure who talked or what was happening overall. There's also hints of a horror game... walking with a lantern, lighting up torches and candles can feel a bit like Amnesia, though the soundtrack is calming and all the other scary bits are missing.Rather than being free investigation, the story just pushes the player to the right location and puzzle.
